Funding for Master’s Degrees in History

Owing to the generosity of a former colleague, the History Department at Keele has around £5000 to award to support postgraduate study, either as a one-off bursary to a single student or as two or more bursaries to be shared between students.  You do not have to be a Keele student.
If you would like to be considered as an applicant for this funding, you should supply a statement about your intended study by 5pm on Friday 1 July 2016, of not more than 500 words.  Applications are welcome from prospective students of both the MRes and MA programmes.  If you already have a defined dissertation topic in mind, you could provide details of your research, but if you have concentrated your thinking so far on your choice of taught modules (for the MA) you might elaborate on your interests and intentions with regards your topic.  Applications to the bursary are not enough on their own to constitute an application for Masters study!  If you haven’t already applied for a place on either our MA or MRes you can still do so via the Keele website, but this statement needs to be submitted in addition to a standard application, not in place of a standard application. Any questions about this process, and all application statements, should be sent by email to Dr Shalini Sharma (
